Lock Rekey Service on Oʻahu

Open daily, 6:00 AM–11:30 PM · Call or text (808) 636-9894

A lock rekey is one of the simplest ways to take back control of who can get into your home or business. Instead of replacing your locks, we change the pins inside the cylinder so a brand-new key works and every old key stops working. Your hardware, finish and door stay exactly the same. Mililani Key Solutions does mobile rekeying across Oʻahu, right at your door.

If your locks are in good working order, rekeying is usually the easy answer. If they’re loose, corroded or you want a stronger deadbolt or a keypad, see lock change and installation.

When to Rekey

  • You just moved in. Previous owners, tenants, contractors and agents may all have had keys.
  • A key was lost or stolen. Rekey so the missing key is useless.
  • A roommate, tenant or employee moved out. Reset access without new hardware.
  • Too many keys on the ring. We can often key several locks alike so one key opens the front door, back door and garage entry.
  • After a break-in or a lockout where a key’s whereabouts are unknown.

How Rekeying Works

  1. Call or text (808) 636-9894. Tell us how many locks and what brands, if you know. Quotes over the phone are free.
  2. We come to you with pinning kits and key machines.
  3. We take the cylinder out, swap the pins to a new combination and put it back.
  4. We cut your new keys and test each lock with them.
  5. You’re set. The old keys no longer turn the lock.

Rekeying is covered by our 30-day warranty on labor and parts.

Rekeying for Businesses and Rentals

Landlords and property managers rekey between tenants. Businesses rekey after staff turnover, and some set up a master key system so managers carry one key while staff keys open only certain doors. Ask about it when you call, or see commercial locksmith services.

Can Every Lock Be Rekeyed?

Most standard residential pin-tumbler locks can be rekeyed. Some locks are designed differently, and very worn or corroded locks may be better replaced. Salt air near the coast can be rough on cylinders. If a lock can’t be rekeyed cleanly, we’ll tell you and give you replacement options instead.
