Common House Lockout Situations

  • The door locked behind you and the key is inside
  • A lost or stolen house key
  • A key that broke off in the lock
  • A lock that suddenly won’t turn or a deadbolt that’s jammed
  • A keypad or smart lock with a dead battery or a forgotten code
  • Moving in and the old owner’s keys don’t work

What Happens When You Call

  1. Call or text (808) 636-9894. Tell us your neighborhood, the type of door and lock if you know it, and what happened.
  2. Hear your options. Quotes over the phone are free, so there are no surprises.
  3. We come to you. We bring the tools to open common residential locks and deadbolts.
  4. We get you in. Our goal is to open the door without damaging your door or frame. If a lock is broken and has to be drilled or replaced, we explain why before we do it.
  5. Make it secure again. If your key was lost or stolen, we can rekey the lock on the spot so the missing key no longer works, or replace the lock if it’s worn out.

All of our work is covered by a 30-day warranty on labor and parts.

Condos, Apartments and Rentals

Many Oʻahu condo buildings and apartment complexes manage unit locks themselves. If you rent or live in a building with an AOAO, call your property manager or building office first. They may have a spare key or rules about who can work on unit locks. If they say to go ahead, we’re happy to help.

If you rent a house, let your landlord know before we rekey or change a lock so they can keep a working key.

Keypad and Smart Locks

Electronic locks lock people out in new ways: dead batteries, a forgotten code, or an app that won’t connect. Most keypad locks have a backup key or a way to jump-start the battery. If you can’t get in, call us. We also install smart and keypad locks if you’d like to upgrade after a lockout.

Avoiding the Next House Lockout

  • Leave a spare key with a trusted neighbor or family member, not under the mat
  • Swap keypad batteries on a schedule instead of waiting for the warning light
  • Fix sticky locks early; a lock that’s hard to turn is more likely to fail at a bad moment
  • After a lost key, rekey so the old one stops working
